MEET THE CREW

Captain Joe

Captain Joe has been on boats his entire life. His dad bought the Ginea May, which was a 32’ Bayliner convertible in the mid 80’s. Captain Joe lived on the boat while going to Santa Barbara City College and went to the islands a couple times a week with his high school buddies Randy and Neil. This was the start of the three friends’ love of the Channel Islands. Captain Joe loves being the expert at finding the fish, the lobster, the dolphins, and the whales. Sharing our world class islands is the main driver for starting this business. One of his many mottos for the BB Pelagic, is that if you can do what you love, then the business will be successful.

Captain Randy

Captain Randy is also affectionately known as a fish. Once he moved to Santa Barbara from Indiana during the start of high school, he has been drawn to the ocean for lobster and fishing. He is a very accomplished recreational lobster diver and spearfisherman. His intuition on where these ocean creatures are is invaluable to the team. Captain Randy has been running his own boat to the Channel Islands for the past 20 years sharing their amazing beauty and bounty with his family and friends.

First Mate Neil

First Mate Neil just loves being on the ocean. He is the most accomplished fisherman of the group and can help you with gear set up and techniques for using any gear that is needed for the fishing situation that presents itself for the day. Neil started fishing on the pier in Goleta and the Eastern Sierras before he started grade school. He loves people and is the entertainer of our group. First Mate Neil is also our seafaring grill master.
